Downtown Moncton Seeking Executive Director - October 8, 2010

Downtown Moncton Centreville Inc (DMCI) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to step into its key role of Executive Director.

If you have a proven track record in leading initiatives in a bilingual environment involving multiple stakeholders, including business and government representatives, and you thrive in an action-oriented, fast paced working environment, this career opportunity may be a perfect fit for you.

As the ideal candidate, you possess the following:

- Exceptional vision, combined with the ability to execute ideas with others.
- Excellent strategic planning, presentation and communication skills.
- Proven track record of negotiating with multiple stakeholders to achieve maximum results.
- Experience working with community-based organizations.
- Ability to work independently, and to lead a team.
- Proven management and budgeting skills.
- Experience in downtown development would be a definite asset.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably with Urban Planning or related specialty.
- Background in dealing with a Board of Directors.
- Ability to function in a bilingual environment.

TV Campaign Co-op - June 10, 2010

Attention DNB Members,

DNB is please to offer our members the opportunity to participate in a DNB TV Co-op Program. As in years past, BIA’s can advertise on CTV or CFTF-TV and DNB will pay $500.00 toward the cost. BIA’s must fill out the application form identifying which station they plan on using and when their ads will run (Summer, Fall or Winter). All advertising must be completed by December 31, 2010. BIA’s will be required to pay the advertising costs and then submit the invoices and proof of payment to DNB, then reimbursement will be given. Limited to 15 packages or $7500.00 so book early. This program is only available to DNB members in good standing. Packages are attached from CTV and CFTF-TV. Downtown New Brunswick accomplishes its mission by:
1. Sharing Information
Minutes
In an effort to keep members abreast of initiatives being undertaken by the Board, the minutes from our monthly Board of Directors meetings are circulated to all DNB Members via email or fax.

Website
By now, most of us have become accustomed to accessing information by our fingertips. Development of a website was a critical component in our mandate, and this element will allow us the flexibility to provide members information in a timely and comprehensive manner. Downtown New Brunswick will provide you with valuable information to assist in fulfilling our mission “to assist our members in developing prosperous downtowns in the province”.

2. Providing Training and Consultation Services to Members
The DNB Education and Outreach Program provides education to members through various mediums. If you are a member of Downtown New Brunswick and your BIA would like to host a regional DNB meeting in your community, please contact Bruce McCormack at bruce@downtownfredericton.ca

Providing information in both official languages is important to DNB and our Outreach Program allows us the opportunity to do so through translation services.

Our Annual General Meeting provides a wealth of information on various topics relative to downtowns. Please check back later for details on the date and location of this years’ event.

3. Facilitating Partnering and Networking
Our Annual Conference boosts a number of educational and networking opportunities. Please check back later for details on the date and location of this years’ event.

The Board of Directors of DNB meets on a monthly basis with staff from the Department of Environment and Local Government. The establishment of this relationship fosters growth in communication between BIA’s and the Provincial Government.

4. Recommending Policies
As the umbrella organization for twenty-nine BIA’s in the province of New Brunswick DNB, has undertaken steps to form policies and recommend changes to the BIA Act. We continue our consulting process to ensure implementation of essential changes.

5. Acting as a Spokesperson for Members
Strategic Planning and discussions involving new developments relative to BIA’s is ongoing with Staff, Members of the Legislative Assembly and Ministers. Your input is important to these discussions and we encourage you to bring your ideas and concerns forward to the Board of Directors. Feel free to contact a member near you.
